Indian cricket: Let's talk about how to make them the best team ': Chetan Sharma remains silent on the differences between Kohli and Rohit.
After the appointment of Rohit as the new white ball captain of the Indian team, the rumors spread again.
The biggest controversy in the current Indian team has been over the last few years between Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. The media has speculated over the last two to three years, with several reports claiming tension between the two senior Indian cricketers, while fans have claimed to have noticed it through their on-field gestures. However, the chief selector of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Friday dismissed rumors calling for an end to the cricket fraternity in 2021.
The rumor is of Rohit's first assignment as ODI captain for a series in 2018 when he led the second-string team to win the Asia Cup. And it was rekindled when the veteran opener was appointed as the new white ball captain of the Indian team.
Asked if the two were asked to sit down and sort things out, Chetan said, "But what about? Things are fine. That's why I was saying, don't bet. We are all cricketers first and selectors second. There is nothing between them."
The former Indian cricketer revealed that the two have good planning for the future of Indian cricket and I would love to see them work together as a team.
Sometimes I read reports about them and laugh. I can tell you that they have very good plans for the future. Things are fantastic. If you were in my place, you would be happy to see how these people work together as a team and as a family and as a unit, "he added.
"It's really sad when people make things like that. So please leave the debate in 2021. Let's talk about how to make them the best team," he added.
Rohit had earlier been appointed T20I captain after India's memorable 2021 T20 World Cup campaign in the UAE and led the team to a clean sweep of the series against New Zealand at home in November. He was later given the ODI captaincy and his first appointment was in the series against South Africa starting January 19.
However, he did not recover from a hamstring injury that ruled him out of the Test series in South Africa as the selectors appointed KL Rahul as their permanent captain. Kohli is leading India's Test team.
