Former England captain Nasser Hussain feels that the newly appointed captain Ben Stokes and head coach Brendon McCullum have taken away the “fear of failure” from the England Test team.
England started off their new era under head coach McCullum and captain Stokes with a win over New Zealand at the Lord’s Cricket Ground, London.
In the second Test against New Zealand at the Trent Bridge in Nottingham England played a different brand of cricket and completed the 299-run chase in 50 overs on the final day of the Test match with the help of Jonny Bairstow’s explosive innings of 136 runs off 92 balls, including 14 impressive fours and 7 amazing sixes.
In his column for The Daily Mail, Hussain stated that the transformation of the England Test team has been rapid and remarkable and he credited Stokes and McCullum for England’s success. He elaborated:
